A question we often get asked is ‘If I hire you will we need a project manager?’. On some projects independent project management is useful. In most projects, especially domestic projects, you do not need one. As part of our Full Architectural Service, we will produce a project programme at the earliest stages of working together and keep you updated throughout the project on our progress. We cannot guarantee that your project will be completed within this initial programme but, if and when delays happen, we will always provide solutions to try and get things back on track.

As architects, we will sit at the centre of the design team and coordinate with the various consultants on the project. You as the client will have separate contracts with each of them but we will brief and manage them all. Similarly, the contractor you choose to hire will have their own responsibility to manage his or her workforce and has a contractual obligation to finish within the time quoted. We cannot manage their business for them but we will monitor progress on-site against the programme provided and report back. If it looks like there are delays we will work with you and the contractor to suggest ways to speed up the project, which might involve adjusting the scope or changing the suppliers as required.
